Medicare in Palmdale by the numbers
Palmdale is one of the largest communities on this site, young and mostly owner occupied, and it holds more than twenty thousand people past 65. Its three ZIP codes are home to 177,644 people, and 20,535 of them are 65 or older, which is 11.6 percent against 15.2 percent for Los Angeles County; 66.0 percent of occupied homes are owner occupied against 45.9 percent countywide. Those counts come from the 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey, summed from the age brackets rather than estimated from a percentage. 93550 in the center holds 8,650 residents past 65, 10.7 percent, with a median age of 30.7, a median household income of $62,078 and 51.2 percent of homes owner occupied; 93551 in the west holds 7,392, 13.6 percent, with a median age of 37.3, $119,801 and 78.8 percent; and 93552 in the east holds 4,493, 10.5 percent, with a median age of 33.7, $85,954 and 77.1 percent. Of residents aged 5 and over, 56.3, 29.6 and 57.5 percent speak Spanish at home, and 40.7, 60.0 and 40.0 percent speak only English.
One hospital inside the city, with an emergency room, and no Kaiser hospital in the valley
Palmdale Regional Medical Center at 38600 Medical Center Drive, inside 93552, is licensed for 184 beds and has an emergency department. North, Antelope Valley Hospital at 1600 W Ave J in Lancaster is licensed for 390. There is no Kaiser hospital in the Antelope Valley: the nearest are Kaiser Foundation Hospital Panorama City at 13652 Cantara St, licensed for 218, and Kaiser Foundation Hospital Woodland Hills at 5601 De Soto Ave, licensed for 274, both down the 14 and reachable only through a Kaiser plan. Those counts come from California state licensing records, read this month. Palmdale Regional, Antelope Valley Hospital and Kaiser are separate systems, and the plan's medical group decides which of them admits you. Medicare Advantage networks are built around medical groups rather than around the insurance company's name, so two plans carrying the same logo can reach completely different doctors, and those contracts are renegotiated year to year. Before you enroll in anything, Lara pulls each plan's current directory and confirms your doctors, your hospital and your pharmacy, and she repeats that check each fall when plans publish their changes.
Spanish at the table, two Palmdales, and Kaiser or not
More than half of central and east Palmdale speaks Spanish at home, and Lara works in Spanish and English in the same conversation, so the parent turning 65 and the adult child helping with the paperwork can both follow every line. With a median age near thirty in the center, the person on Medicare there is often the eldest in a household of working adults, and the help check comes before any plan: Extra Help lowers Part D drug costs for people under its income and resource limits, and someone with both Medicare and Medi-Cal can be eligible for a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan, of which Los Angeles County has 47 in 2026; eligibility depends on the person's own income and assets, or the couple's, not the whole household's, and it takes a few minutes to check. In the west, where four in five homes are owner occupied and the median household income is well above six figures, the long term care conversation, how care would be paid for and how a home is treated under Medi-Cal's rules, belongs in the same review, and so does the income surcharge on Part B and Part D premiums for higher earners, set from the tax return of two years earlier and correctable with Form SSA-44 after a life changing event such as retirement. Everywhere in the city the Kaiser question comes early, because a Kaiser member's hospital is an hour down the freeway while everyone else's is in town. For anyone still working at 65 with coverage from an employer of 20 or more people, including the aerospace plants, Part B can usually wait without penalty until that job ends. Across the county's general enrollment Medicare Advantage plans, out of pocket maximums run from $199 to $9,250 in 2026, and the Part D cap is $2,100.
Medicare Advantage in Palmdale by the numbers, 2026
Palmdale sits in Los Angeles County, one of the biggest Medicare Advantage markets in the country. In 2026 the county has 74 Medicare Advantage plans open to general enrollment plus 47 Special Needs Plans, per the CMS 2026 Landscape file, and 65 of those 74 plans charge a $0 monthly plan premium. About 57 percent of the county's 1.7 million Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in Medicare Advantage or other Medicare health plans (CMS, May 2026). Our analysis of the same CMS file puts the average in network out of pocket maximum across the county's general enrollment plans at $2,428, with a median of $1,700 and a range from $199 all the way to $9,250. That spread is the whole argument for comparing before you enroll: two $0 premium plans can differ by thousands of dollars in a bad year. Straight answers, and the fine print up front
Here is exactly how this works. Lara is a licensed independent insurance agent, and her help costs you nothing, because licensed agents are paid by the insurance companies whose plans they represent. Your premium is the same whether you enroll through an agent, online, or directly with the insurer. What an independent agent adds is the comparison: she is appointed with several carriers rather than one. She does not carry every plan available in Los Angeles County, and she will tell you when something she cannot sell looks like the better fit for you.
Medicare help in Palmdale from a licensed broker
Goulson Insurance Services Inc. is an independent insurance agency, and our agents work as licensed brokers for Palmdale families. Independent means no single insurance carrier employs us or decides what we recommend, so the comparison starts with your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D drug plans from multiple carriers side by side and help you enroll in the one that fits. The agency holds CA license 6020069, Lara Goulson holds CA license 0E69969, and the team works in English, Spanish, and Hebrew. Whether you searched for Medicare help near me, a broker, or a local agency, it is the same licensed help, and it costs you nothing, because carriers pay broker compensation, which is regulated by Medicare.
