Medicare Help for Nevada Residents at No Cost
Everything happens by phone or video, so a client in Henderson and a client in Elko get the same attention on the same day. Carriers pay agent compensation, which means your premium is the same whether you enroll through Lara or on your own. Being independent is the point. Lara compares plans from several insurance companies, checks your doctors and prescriptions against each one, handles the paperwork, and answers the phone next year when something changes. Appointments are available in English, Spanish, and Hebrew.
Medicare Basics in Nevada
Nevada has roughly 624,000 Medicare beneficiaries as of early 2026, and about 52 percent are enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans. Where you live matters more here than in most states. Clark County alone offers around 40 Medicare Advantage plans for 2026, yet 8 of Nevada's 17 counties have no Medicare Advantage plans at all. That split shapes the whole conversation. In Las Vegas and Henderson the work is narrowing a long list down to the plans that actually cover your doctors and drugs. In a rural county the work is usually building a solid Original Medicare package with a Medigap plan and a Part D drug plan. Free unbiased counseling is also available from the Nevada Medicare Assistance Program, the state SHIP, at 1-800-307-4444. The 2026 numbers for Nevada, from the official CMS Landscape file: 64 distinct Medicare Advantage plans are offered in at least one Nevada county, 56 of them with a $0 monthly premium where offered, plus 41 Special Needs Plans. The in network out of pocket maximums on those plans run from $199 to $6,750, with a median of $2,975. What is actually available depends on your county, which is exactly what we check at your address (Goulson analysis of CMS CY2026 Landscape data).
Medicare Open Enrollment Runs October 15 to December 7, 2026
The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage opens October 15, 2026 and closes December 7, 2026, with changes effective January 1, 2027. Book a review now rather than in late November. Plans change benefits, provider networks, and drug lists every single year, and in Nevada a carrier can also change which counties it serves. Reading your Annual Notice of Change in September takes fifteen minutes and often saves real money.
Nevada's Medigap Birthday Rule Is a Real Advantage
Under Nevada's AB 250 law, Medigap policyholders get 60 days starting the first day of their birth month, every year, to switch to another Medigap plan with equal or lesser benefits, with no health questions asked. That is a genuine consumer protection. If your current carrier raised rates and another company sells the same plan letter for less, you can move without being denied for your health history. Since October 1, 2025, insurers must also offer all Medigap plans to Nevadans under 65 who are on Medicare, with rate protections that limit how much more they can be charged.
Serving Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, and All of Nevada
Las Vegas has dozens of Medicare Advantage choices and a crowded field of zero premium plans, which makes network and drug checks essential before you sign anything. Henderson clients often keep the same doctors for decades and want to confirm those relationships survive a plan change. Reno and Washoe County have their own carrier lineup, and it does not match southern Nevada's. In the rural counties with no Advantage plans, the practical answer is usually Original Medicare with a Medigap policy and a Part D plan. An independent agent sorts out what actually exists in your zip code.
Why Use an Independent Agent Instead of Calling Carriers
One carrier shows you only its own plans, and a national call center rarely knows which Nevada counties lost coverage this year. Lara compares plans across multiple carriers, tells you when the honest answer is Original Medicare with a supplement, and stays your contact after enrollment. Keep in mind that Medicare does not pay for most long term care, so that is worth planning separately.
Nevada Medicare Questions? Talk to a Licensed Agent
Medicare is easier when someone reads the fine print with you. Lara Goulson is licensed in Nevada and ten other states, compares plans from multiple carriers, and stays available after you enroll, when the questions about claims, drug tiers, and provider changes actually show up. There is no fee for any of it. Carriers pay agent compensation, so a Nevada resident pays exactly the same premium whether they enroll through Lara, through a call center, or on their own.
