Medicare in Santa Clarita by the numbers
Santa Clarita is one of the largest communities on this site. Across its six ZIP codes, 219,066 people live here and 30,001 of them are 65 or older, 13.7 percent, more people of Medicare age than in any San Fernando Valley neighborhood we have written about. The concentration is uneven: Valencia's 91355 is 19.7 percent past 65 with a median age of 43.3, while Canyon Country's 91387 is 11.2 percent with a median age of 35.2. Those counts come from the 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey, summed from the age brackets rather than estimated from a percentage. Home ownership runs high across the city, 71.0 percent of occupied homes overall, and Saugus at 82.5 percent has one of the highest ownership rates of any ZIP code on this site. Median household income ranges from $91,092 in Newhall to $156,173 in the northern half of Valencia. Of residents aged 5 and over, 23.6 percent speak Spanish at home, from 9.2 percent in northern Valencia to 37.7 percent in Newhall.
One hospital in the valley, and where the others are
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital at 23845 McBean Parkway in Valencia is the Santa Clarita Valley's general hospital, licensed for 334 general acute care beds, with a further 23 acute psychiatric beds on a separate licence. The next ones are over the pass: Providence Holy Cross Medical Center at 15031 Rinaldi Street in Mission Hills is licensed for 330, and Northridge Hospital Medical Center at 18300 Roscoe Blvd for 354. Kaiser has no hospital in Santa Clarita; a Kaiser member's nearest Kaiser hospitals are in Panorama City, licensed for 218 beds, and Woodland Hills, licensed for 274. Those counts come from California state licensing records, read this month. With one local hospital, the network question is unusually concrete: which plans, and which medical groups, reach Henry Mayo and the doctors who admit there. Medicare Advantage networks are built around medical groups rather than around the insurance company's name, so two plans carrying the same logo can reach completely different doctors, and those contracts are renegotiated year to year. Before you enroll in anything, Lara pulls each plan's current directory and confirms your doctors, your hospital and your pharmacy, and she repeats that check each fall when plans publish their changes.
A home owning city with two ages
Santa Clarita's numbers split by age. Valencia's 91355 has the city's highest share of people past 65 and its oldest median age, while Saugus and Canyon Country are younger and among the most owner occupied places on this site. Two things follow. First, a household that owns its home changes the Medicare Supplement versus Medicare Advantage question, because the Supplement's higher monthly premium buys a much smaller exposure to out of pocket costs in a bad year, and that trade looks different when there is something to protect. Second, the person picking up the phone for a Santa Clarita parent is often a son or daughter in the Valley, and that works: the parent has to be part of the decision, and Lara will ask for that, but the first conversation can start with whoever calls. She works in English, Spanish and Hebrew, by phone or video, and at your kitchen table when that is what the family wants.
Medicare Advantage in Santa Clarita by the numbers, 2026
Santa Clarita sits in Los Angeles County, one of the biggest Medicare Advantage markets in the country. In 2026 the county has 74 Medicare Advantage plans open to general enrollment plus 47 Special Needs Plans, per the CMS 2026 Landscape file, and 65 of those 74 plans charge a $0 monthly plan premium. About 57 percent of the county's 1.7 million Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in Medicare Advantage or other Medicare health plans (CMS, May 2026). Our analysis of the same CMS file puts the average in network out of pocket maximum across the county's general enrollment plans at $2,428, with a median of $1,700 and a range from $199 all the way to $9,250. That spread is the whole argument for comparing before you enroll: two $0 premium plans can differ by thousands of dollars in a bad year. Straight answers, and the fine print up front
Here is exactly how this works. Lara is a licensed independent insurance agent, and her help costs you nothing, because licensed agents are paid by the insurance companies whose plans they represent. Your premium is the same whether you enroll through an agent, online, or directly with the insurer. What an independent agent adds is the comparison: she is appointed with several carriers rather than one. She does not carry every plan available in Los Angeles County, and she will tell you when something she cannot sell looks like the better fit for you.
Medicare help in Santa Clarita from a licensed broker
Goulson Insurance Services Inc. is an independent insurance agency, and our agents work as licensed brokers for Santa Clarita families. Independent means no single insurance carrier employs us or decides what we recommend, so the comparison starts with your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D drug plans from multiple carriers side by side and help you enroll in the one that fits. The agency holds CA license 6020069, Lara Goulson holds CA license 0E69969, and the team works in English, Spanish, and Hebrew. Whether you searched for Medicare help near me, a broker, or a local agency, it is the same licensed help, and it costs you nothing, because carriers pay broker compensation, which is regulated by Medicare.
