What a 2027 plan review covers
We start with what you use: your doctors, your pharmacy and every medication with its dose. Then we check your current plan's changes for 2027, which are listed in the Annual Notice of Change your plan mailed in September, and whether your plan is still offered where you live. If it still fits, we tell you so and you are done. If something changed, we compare the options available at your address side by side, and you decide whether to switch. Most reviews take about an hour. Nothing is signed unless you choose a new plan, and family members are welcome to join.
Who should book one this year
Anyone with a Medicare Advantage plan or a Part D drug plan, because those plans can change every year even when you change nothing. Anyone who got a letter saying their plan ends: in Los Angeles County that includes members of 19 plans, listed on our plans not offered in 2027 page. People turning 65 in the coming months, people who moved, and anyone whose Medi-Cal or Extra Help status changed this year.
The 2027 dates
Annual Enrollment for 2027 coverage: October 15 to December 7, 2026. Changes made in this window start January 1, 2027. Special Enrollment Period for members of a plan that ends: December 8, 2026 to February 28, 2027. A choice made by December 31 starts January 1; a later one starts the first day of the following month. Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: January 1 to March 31, 2027. If you are in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to another one, or return to Original Medicare, once in this window.
What to bring
Your red, white and blue Medicare card and your current plan card. A list of your medications with doses, or the bottles themselves. The names of your doctors and your pharmacy. The Annual Notice of Change or non-renewal letter from your plan, if you have it. Our printable checklist lists everything in one place.
How it works
When you book, you tell us which kinds of plans you want to talk about: Medicare Advantage, Part D drug plans, Medicare Supplement, or dental, vision and hearing plans. Medicare rules require that before any plan discussion, and calls are recorded. We work with many insurance companies, so we can compare plans from more than one of them. We do not offer every plan available in your area, and Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE list every option.
