Who Lara Is and What the Help Costs
Lara Goulson is a licensed independent insurance agent, California license number 0E69969, National Producer Number (NPN) 8407942, with offices in Valley Village and Century City. Independent means she is appointed with many insurance carriers rather than working for one, so she can compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D plans side by side instead of selling a single company's product. Her help costs you nothing. Licensed agents are compensated by the insurance company when a client enrolls, and Medicare regulates that compensation. Your premium is exactly the same whether you enroll through an agent, directly with the carrier, or by yourself at Medicare.gov. There is no language surcharge and no consultation fee.
How a Hebrew Language Medicare Appointment Works
The appointment is conducted in Hebrew from beginning to end if that is what you prefer. That includes explaining what each part of Medicare does, reviewing your doctors and prescriptions, comparing the plans available at your address, and completing the enrollment application. We ask you to bring four things: your Medicare card if you already have one, a list of your doctors, a list of your medications with doses, and your ZIP code. From there we build a written comparison and go through it slowly. Nothing is rushed, and no question is too basic. Many families come as a group, with an adult child who speaks English and a parent who does not. Having an agent who speaks both languages removes the translation burden from the family and, more importantly, means the person actually making the decision is the person who fully understands it.
Serving the Israeli and Jewish Communities of Los Angeles
Los Angeles has one of the largest Israeli communities outside Israel, concentrated in the San Fernando Valley and on the Westside. Lara works regularly with clients in Valley Village, North Hollywood, Encino, Tarzana, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Woodland Hills, Pico-Robertson, Beverly Hills, and throughout the city. Some situations come up often enough in this community that they deserve mention. Clients who immigrated later in life sometimes have gaps in the work credits that determine whether Part A is premium free. Clients who spend several months a year in Israel need to think carefully about how their plan behaves outside the United States, because Medicare Advantage networks are local while a Medicare Supplement with Original Medicare travels more easily within the country and some policies include limited foreign travel emergency benefits. These are exactly the details that get lost when the conversation happens in a second language and under time pressure.
Medicare Basics, Explained Plainly
Medicare has four parts. Part A covers inpatient hospital care and is premium free for most people with sufficient work history. Part B covers doctors, outpatient care, and medical equipment, and has a monthly premium. Part C, called Medicare Advantage, is a private plan that delivers your Part A and Part B benefits through a network and usually includes drug coverage. Part D is prescription drug coverage. You choose one of two paths. Either you take Original Medicare, usually with a Medicare Supplement policy and a standalone Part D plan, which lets you see any provider in the country who accepts Medicare and makes your costs highly predictable. Or you take a Medicare Advantage plan, which typically costs less each month, uses a network, and caps what you can pay out of pocket in a year. Neither path is universally better. The right answer depends on your doctors, your medications, your travel, and your tolerance for variable costs.
Enrollment Dates You Need to Know
Your Initial Enrollment Period around your 65th birthday lasts seven months: the three months before your birthday month, that month, and the three months after. Medicare Annual Enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7, 2026, and changes take effect January 1, 2027. During that window you can join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage plan or a Part D plan. Special Enrollment Periods exist for specific events such as losing employer coverage or moving out of your plan's service area. If you think a deadline has passed, call anyway. There is often an option left.
Hebrew Speaking Help Beyond Los Angeles
Lara is licensed in eleven states: California, Nevada, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Arkansas, Colorado, Michigan, and New York. Hebrew speaking clients in any of those states can work with her by phone and video exactly as Los Angeles clients do in person. That matters for families spread across the country, and for clients who move. If you relocate from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Phoenix, or South Florida, you do not need to find a new agent and explain your history again.
